Cholesterol-lowering ability of lactic acid bacteria.
Lactic acid bacteria were inoculated into MRS broth containing 100 μg/ml cholesterol and cultured at 37℃ for 24 h. After incubation, the cholesterol concentration in the supernatant was measured. Control was not inoculated with the bacteria; negative control was inoculated with E. coli. Results are presented as means ± SD, n = 3. *p < 0.05, ***p < 0.001 compared to the control.
