Cholesterol concentration in the cell lysate and supernatant of selected strains.
B. longum UBC-15 and L. reuteri UBC-61 were inoculated into MRS broth containing 100 μg/ml cholesterol and cultured at 37℃ for 24 h. After incubation, the cell pellet and supernatant were obtained by centrifugation. The cell pellet was then disrupted using ultrasonication to extract cell lysate. Cholesterol concentrations in the cell lysate and supernatant were measured. Control was not inoculated with the bacteria. Results are presented as means ± SD, n = 3.
