Cholesterol-lowering ability of mixed strains.
B. longum UBC-15 and L. reuteri UBC-61 were autoclaved at 121℃ for 15 min. The two heat-killed strains were inoculated individually or simultaneously in MRS broth containing 100 μg/ml cholesterol and cultured at 37℃ for 24 h. After incubation, the cholesterol concentration in the supernatant was measured. Control was not inoculated with the bacteria. Results are presented as means ± SD, n = 3. ***p < 0.001, ****p < 0.0001 compared with the control.
